Healing Quest

Any event or trip that takes you beyond your typical routine has the potential to unleash healing properties. Plan with family or friends-to create opportunities to tap healing properties. Use this activity as a guide.
  • With practice, you gradually develop enough emotional and spiritual maturity to cultivate very deep healing properties for yourself and others. Each year, tens of thousands of devotees and priests participate in rituals, ceremonies and festivals around the world.  Learn about opportunities for Healing Quests offered to the general public across the country. Ask your Oluwo (teacher) to talk to you about  the local and national Orisa Lifestyle events to be held during the coming year. Search online and create a festival calendar, then decide on three opportunities for encountering healing properties that you might like. Find out the location, requirements, associated costs, dates, focus of the activity, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Consider the fact that you can also travel outside of the United States.    Choose a country where Orisa Lifestyle is practices that you would like to visit and find out as much as you can about that country through books, magazines, travel agents, and Web sites. Gather photos, posters, and souvenirs. Share this information by creating an imaginary television or radio commercial in which you tell everyone why your travel spot is "hot" in one minute or less. Perform your commercial for your friends, or family members. Record your commercial on video- or audiotape and share it online.
  • If you become an Orisa Lifestyle Catalyst and go on an international Healing Quest, you'll need a passport. Look at a real passport application online. If possible, look at a real passport to see how it is designed. Then, with the information you have gathered, apply for a real passport if you don't already have one.
    • Find out what Orisa Lifestyle practitioners are doing to benefit our world. Seek out a Catalyst whose project was about a local, global or environmental problem. Ask her to share what she did to complete the project. Prepare questions for her ahead of time. Take notes and share what you learned about her and the project with your friends, spiritual community, or family.

  • Once you select a Healing Quest, what will it take to get there? Then, figure out schedules, or call a travel agent to ask about plane schedules. Estimate the number of miles you will travel, how much will it cost in gas prices or ticket fares and how long it will take you to get there.
  • The Healing Quest includes a service project of some sort. With other devotees, brainstorm ideas for service projects involving sports, safety, health, nutrition, fitness, or other subject areas that interest you. List at least ten ideas. Select one and discuss how you would go about carrying it out. What kinds of help will you need? What kinds of supplies and equipment? How much time will you need? What about donations? Save your list and plans for your Orisa Lifestyle future.
  • Design a Healing Quest for a group of youth. Work with parents, teachers, coaches and youth to plan the kinds of Orisa Lifestyle events or activities that younger people can do. Once you have a design, carry out your Healing Quest. Make sure that parents are involved and that you have the permissions you need.
